Eggs, Flour and Blood
Bakery
Eggs, Flour and Blood
The settings of the short had very important roles: They had to describe two worlds, and the two sides of the main character’s personality. The bakery, of course, had to represent the warm and pure nature of the family. It also describes the sweet side of the girl, who despite her aspirations to kill people as a job,
also has a very juvenile and seemingly inncoent side.
We therefore chose to go with a pastel colour palette, mainly consisting of cream colours, light browns and a few hints of pink and yellow. The colors are inspired by the objects you can find in a bakery, like bread, flour, pastries, etc.
Castle
Eggs, Flour and Blood
The colours of the castle by night have a prevalence of blue and violet tones. They are exeptionally different, almost opposite to the ones seen in the bakery.
In a way they represent the other side of the girl’s personality, the darker and eerie aspects.
Very important for these scenes were the lights and shadows that are there to simulate a very big show. We drew inspiration from rock and pop concerts, as well as popular talent shows. It is a fun place, but also one where sinister and cruel things happen, like for instance, the execution of innocents for a good show’s purpuse.
